About Don't Forget To Breathe Foundation - Our Grief Support Mission

A Journey from Loss to Connection, Conversation, Community,
and Continued Support

Our Story and Mission

This foundation was born from loss, and from love that never left.

After the death of his daughter Kristen in 2006, Bruce Barker began a journey no parent is prepared for, learning how to live in a world that no longer made sense. Years later, that journey became a conversation.

The Don’t Forget To Breathe Podcast was created to give grieving parents a place to be seen, heard, and understood. What started as a microphone and a story has grown into a community of parents across the world who are learning, together, how to carry both grief and life.

The foundation exists to take that mission further, creating spaces where parents can speak their child’s name, share their story, and find connection in a world that often does not understand their loss.

Meet the Founders
Bruce Barker

Bruce Barker is the founder and host of the Don’t Forget To Breathe Podcast, a space created for bereaved parents to find voice, hope, and connection. After losing his 20yr-old daughter Kristen in 2006, Bruce spent years navigating the reality of life after child loss, eventually turning his experience into a platform that helps others feel less alone.

Through honest conversation and shared stories, Bruce has built a global community of parents who are learning to live alongside their grief. He also facilitates parent support groups in both Denver and Fort Collins, creating spaces where parents can speak openly and be understood without explanation.

Outside of his work in grief support, Bruce is an aviation professional, bringing leadership, structure, and care into every space he serves.
